Halesowen man, 22, avoids jail despite 'horrendous dangerous driving' during police chase in rush hour on Black Country Route
A 22-year-old disqualified driver who led police on a 'horrendously dangerous' chase on the Black Country route during rush hour has swerved being locked up.
Livvius Grant, of Willowsbrook Road, Halesowen, put his foot down instead of pulling over when blue lighted by police during rush hour on the Black Country Route at 6pm on June 17, this year.
Driving an Audi S3 Quattro despite being disqualified Grant blindly overtook lorries on bends, drove on the wrong side of a dual carriageway and tried to ram his way into a park in a desperate bid to evade pursuing police cars.
Weaving in and out of traffic on the Birmingham New Road and Oxford Street in Wolverhampton Grant's dangerous driving ended when he crashed into a bollard and was arrested.
Grant pleaded guilty to dangerous driving, driving whilst disqualified and driving without insurance at Wolverhampton Magistrates Court. He was sentenced at Wolverhampton Crown Court on Wednesday.
The prosecution was unable to play the CCTV footage to the court but explained in detail what had been captured by cameras.
Prosecutor Mr Shoker said: "At 6pm on June 17, officers in an unmarked police car saw an Audi S3 which had not stopped when asked to pull over earlier.
