Knife and robbery arrests after police officers take part in joint operation in Walsall town centre
Two teenagers were arrested on suspicion of possessing a bladed article and robbery as part of targeted police patrols in Walsall.
Officers from the St Matthew’s Team joined #SaferStreetsSummer officers and a team from Safer Travel as they carried out targeted patrols on Tuesday (August 12)
The teams carried out a number of stop-and-searches and arrested two teenagers on suspicion of possessing a bladed article and robbery.
An 18-year-old man was arrested following a stop and search and a knife recovered.
Kevin Adam, aged 18, from Willenhall, was later charged with possessing a knife and was scheduled to appear at Wolverhampton Magistrates Court on Wednesday for a first hearing. No details are yet available of his appearance.
A 16-year-old boy, from Cannock, who was wanted for robbery, was also arrested following a stop-and-search.
Sergeant David Woods, Neighbourhood Policing Officer at Walsall, said: “These were excellent arrests carried out through great partnership work.
"We want people to come into the town centre and feel safe and we want to reassure visitors we are working alongside our partners targeting criminal behaviour and offering reassurance.”
A spokesman for West Midlands Police said: "Officers have been carrying out #SaferStreetsSummer operations in the town centre where we carry out patrols and support local businesses.
"It is part of a national initiative running in town centres and high streets across the UK focusing on anti-social behaviour, retail and street crime.
