Darren Taylor, of Bournebrook Crescent, Halesowen, was at home on December 2 last year when he saw, through a window, robbers approaching his property on bikes.

The 56-year-old knew the robbers were after his crop of 33 cannabis plants, and though running an illegal operation he rang 999. Officers arrived before the robbers gained entry, and were quick to notice the crop Taylor was growing.

They also noticed he had rigged up a sophisticated growing operation which was powered by electricity he was stealing from a neighbouring property via an extension lead.
