Suspected thieves appear in court over shop thefts in Dudley and Sandwell

A number of suspected thieves have appeared in court as officers from West Midlands Police continue to crackdown on shop thefts across Dudley and Sandwell.

Three men charged with shop thefts went before magistrates in Wolverhampton on Monday, while another man is awaiting his appearance at the city's Magistrates Court.

Ashley Flavell, 29, of Nimmings Road in Halesowen, had been charged with two counts of theft from a shop on Dudley Road and Halesowen.

Flavell was remanded in custody and was given a Community Order with a requirement to run until August 3, 2026 when he appeared at Wolverhampton Magistrates’ Court.

Marcus Henry, 34, of Spiral Close in Halesowen, was also charged with two counts of shop theft on a store in Dudley Road in Halesowen.

Henry was also remanded in custody and was given a two week custodial sentence at HMP Birmingham when he appeared at Wolverhampton Magistrates Court.

James Wallace, 56, of no fixed address, was also charged with a shop theft offence on Astle Park in West Bromwich on August 1 and was also given a two week custodial sentence at HMP Birmingham when he appeared at Wolverhampton Magistrates Court.

Justin Miller, aged 25, of no fixed address, was charged with a shop theft offence on Owen Street in Tipton on Saturday. He was due to appear at Wolverhampton Magistrates Court on Monday, but no details are yet available of his appearance.

A spokesman for West Midlands Police said: "The charges form part of our work to tackle retail crime across the Black Country as part of the national #SaferStreetsSummer initiative.
