Man arrested after theft of hundreds of pounds of goods from shops in Bilston and Wolverhampton
A man was arrested on suspicion of stealing hundreds of pounds worth of goods from shops across Bilston and Wolverhampton.
The 37-year-old man has been in police custody since Sunday night, having been arrested in the East Park area last night by local officers from West Midlands Police investigating a series of thefts from local stores throughout the wider city.
He was brought into custody for questioning and remained in custody throughout Monday.
A spokesman for West Midlands Police said: "Our officers are working hard with local retailers and store security to identify persistent offenders and any emerging trends or hotspots.
"This work forms part of the national #SaferStreetsSummer initiative to tackle retail crime and anti social behaviour on local high streets, town and city centres.
"If you see any suspicious activity while you are out and about please tell us.
"You can do this by calling 101."
