Wanted man sent back to prison after he was allegedly caught shoplifting in Wolverhampton

A man wanted by officers was arrested after he twice stole goods in Wolverhampton.

Kurt Griffin was arrested by city centre officers in Lichfield Street on Thursday and charged with two shop thefts. The 34-year-old was also wanted on recall to prison and appeared at Wolverhampton Magistrates Court the next day.

The team also attended reports of an assault in the Queen Square area of on Thursday afternoon and arrested a suspect. Alan Soica, aged 31, has since been charged with assault and possessing a bladed article. He's been bailed to appear at  the same court on August 20.

Wednesfield & Heath Town officers seized a car being driven at speed and in an erratic manner through Heath Town after pulling over the driver who had no licence and no insurance.

In Bilston & East Park officers assisted with a drugs swoop at an undisclosed property following concerns about activity at the premises, however, as nothing was found there were no arrests. 

West Midlands Police said tackling business crime and issues in shopping areas was a priority after surveys showed shop thefts and street violence were among the issues which gave businesses and residents the most concern.
