Man charged with attempted murder following stabbing attack in Birmingham
A man has been charged with attempted murder following an incident in Handsworth which left a man in a serious condition.
West Midlands Police confirmed that Mohamed Mahamad has been charged with attempted murder, as well as attempted robbery and possession of a knife, following the incident on Saturday.
The force said the 36-year-old, of Browns Green, Birmingham, had appeared at Birmingham Magistrates Court on Tuesday morning and have been remanded in custody to appear at Birmingham Crown Court next month.
A spokesman for West Midlands Police said: "We’ve charged a man after a stabbing in Handsworth at the weekend.
"Mohamed Mahamad, aged 36, from Birmingham, appeared before the city’s magistrates court today (29 July) charged with attempted murder, as well as attempted robbery and possession of a knife.
"The man in his 20s, who was stabbed on Gibson Road in the early hours of Saturday (26 July), remains in hospital in a serious but stable condition.
"Our investigation is continuing and anyone with information should contact us via 101 quoting log 650 of 26 July."
