Four people arrested and two councillors suspended after men and woman injured in 'stabbing' in Cradley Heath
Four people have been arrested after three were injured in a 'stabbing' in Cradley Heath.
Police confirmed the arrests were made in connection with the incident in Cradley Heath in the early hours of Sunday (July 20). Two injured men were taken to hospital and a woman also sustained minor injuries.
Earlier this week the Labour Party confirmed it had suspended two Sandwell councillors in connection with the police investigation into the incident.
Blackheath Councillor Danny Millard and Rowley Councillor Claire Mayo were suspended on Monday (July 21).
A West Midlands Police spokesman said: "We were called after a report of an assault in the early hours of Sunday morning on Surfeit Hill Road, Cradley Heath.
"Two men were taken to hospital with injuries whilst a woman sustained minor injuries."
The spokesman added: "A 23-year-old woman and a 26-year-old man were arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm. A 33-year-old man and a 40-year-old woman were arrested on suspicion of assault. They remain in custody for questioning.
"Anyone who has any information about the incident is asked to call 101 quoting 20/315696/25."
The argument which led to the violence reportedly began in a pub in Cradley Heath and escalated.
The West Midlands Ambulance Service confirmed paramedics attended the scene of 'a stabbing'.
A spokesman said: “We were called to reports of a stabbing on Surfeit Hill Road, Cradley Heath at 2.49am on Sunday and sent an ambulance to the scene.
"On arrival crews found two men who they treated for injuries not believed to be serious before conveying them to hospital.”
Councillor Millard and Councillor Mayo were both absent from last night's full Sandwell Council meeting but did turn up together at the end.

The Labour Party issued a statement confirming both councillors had been suspended, saying: "We are extremely concerned about this incident. Both Councillor Millard and Councillor Mayo were administratively suspended by the Labour Party immediately upon receipt of these allegations.
"Given this is subject to a police investigation we are not able to comment further at this time."
Both councillors have been approached for comment.
