Man who climbed onto the roof of a Wolverhampton supermarket on Christmas Day, threatened to shoot people and threw lager at police avoids jail
A man climbed up on the roof of a Wolverhampton supermarket on Christmas day and threatened to shoot anyone who tried to get him down.
But despite his threats Louie Lewis didn't in fact have a gun, only a small knife attached to his belt.
Wolverhampton Crown Court heard Lewis called 999 and was on the phone for more than 20 minutes, issuing the shooting threats. When police did attend Casper Stores in Cannock Road, they had to evacuate the immediate area, and Lewis was hostile, throwing a roof tile and a can of lager at them.
When Lewis was eventually talked down he was emotional and said he wanted to get attention by issuing the shooting threat, when in reality he had no intention to harm anyone.
