Daniel Mountain has been jailed for more than two years

Daniel Mountain had already pleaded guilty to four charges brought against him by the Health and Safety Executive.

The 36-year-old carried out work in Dudley, Oldbury and Newport in Shropshire between 2020 and 2021 under the pretence of being Corgi registered and even when he had a prohibition order against him specifically banning him from installing and servicing boilers and radiators.

Wolverhampton Crown Court heard Mountain broke the order when carrying out work at the home of David Trueman in Oldbury and a property in Newport where he used the name of a company he had previously worked for called Elite Gas, passing it off as his to install a boiler.

James Puzey, prosecuting, said: "Within a day of the boiler being installed in Oldbury, the customer could smell gas from a hole in the wall that had been left and tried to get in touch with Mountain but wasn't able to easily and was left uncertain as to what to do for the best.

"It was a poorly constructed chimney flue and when he was questioned over this he was either not available or unwilling to engage with the customer, who had paid him £2,920 already.
