Three more people charged with murder over city shooting

More people have been arrested and charges made following a murder on a Birmingham street.

Three more people have been charged with the murder of Naasir Francis, who was fatally shot in Lozells.

Darnell Donovan-Harris, aged 22 ,of Westminister Crescent, Handsworth and a 17-year-old boy from Surrey have been charged with murder, attempted murder and possession of a prohibited weapon.

A 16-year-old boy, who cannot be named for legal reasons, has also been charged with murder, attempted murder and possession of a firearm with intent to commit an indictable offence.

All three man have been remanded to appear at Birmingham Magistrates Court today.

A 15-year-old boy and an 18-year-old man, who were arrested in Birmingham on August 29 on suspicion of assisting an offender have been released pending further investigation.

Devastated

A 48-year-old man arrested from an address in Surrey on August 30 has been released on bail, while a 44-year-old woman who was also arrested in Surrey has been released pending further investigation.

Naasir, who was 22-years-old, was fatally shot in Lozells at around 12.30pm on Wednesday, August 26.

Detective Chief Inspector Jim Munro, from the force’s homicide unit, said: "I would continue to urge anyone who has any information who has not yet spoken to us to get in touch.

"Naasir’s family and friends are devastated by his death, which has also left the community sad and shocked.

"Local neighbourhood police teams will continue their increased presence in the area over the Bank Holiday weekend."
