Mr Justice Jeremy Baker told the remaining 11 jurors at Stafford Crown Court on Tuesday that a new jury would be re-sworn later.

Opening the case on Monday, the prosecution had alleged 20-year-old Ms Bunker was killed by "trusted" friend Streete, who then tried to cover up what he had done.

Ms Bunker was found face down in a pool in Wiggington Park, Tamworth, on September 19, last year.

Streete, 20, of no fixed address, was also accused of two other counts of rape, three counts of sexual assault and a charge of sexual activity with a child, against three other victims, said to have happened in previous years.

He had denied all charges.
