Man, woman and child rescued from suspected arson attack on house
A man, woman and child were today rescued from a house fire in Birmingham, which is believed to have been an arson attack.
Emergency services received a 999 call at 4.19am and three crews were sent to the scene at Highfield Road, in Washwood End
The first fire engine arrived in under three minutes at the two-storey building.
A ladder was used to reach a first-floor window, and two adults and one child were rescued.
The fire was found on the ground floor and hosereel jets were used to extinguish it.
It is believed the fire was started deliberately and West Midlands Police have launched investigations.
All three people were treated at the scene by paramedics before being taken to hospital.
A spokeswoman from West Midlands Ambulance Service, said: "We were called by the fire service at 4.21am to a fire at a property on Highfield Road, Birmingham.
"Two ambulances and a paramedic officer attended the scene.
"We treated three patients, a man, woman and child for smoke inhalation. All were taken to hospital for further treatment.”
