Man stabbed and beaten after helping woman and dog being attacked by group

A man has been stabbed and beaten with a crowbar after stepping in to help a woman and her dog being attacked by a group of men in Birmingham.

The good Samaritan intervened after seeing a group of men attacking a woman and dog in Johnson Road, Erdington.

The man, in his 30s, has been taken to hospital with serious injuries after the attack at around 8pm on Saturday.

Now detectives have launched an appeal to find out more about what happened – with the woman being asked to come forward.

Patrols have been stepped up in the area as officers are trawl through CCTV.
