JAILED: Taxi driver invented person in bid to avoid speeding fine

A taxi driver from the Black Country has been jailed for 10 weeks for trying to dodge a speeding fine.

Majid Hussain, from Dudley, was caught on camera on the A41 Black Country New Road driving at 56mph in a 40mph limit area.

But the 28-year-old nominated a fictitious person as being the driver at the time after receiving a notice of intended prosecution by the central ticket office.

Hussain, of Ivanhoe Street, was interviewed and admitted making up fake details after being shown photographs taken by the recording cameras.

He pleaded guilty at Birmingham Crown Court and was sentenced to 10 weeks in prison.
