Robber attacks 75-year-old man with iron bar
An 75-year-old man was struck several times with an iron bar in a terrifying robbery at his home near Sandwell.
An unknown man forced his way into the pensioner's home and attacked him with the iron bar.
He then searched the property in Barn Piece, Quinton, and fled in the homeowner's Hyundai IX35 car.
The elderly man suffered seriously injuries to his face and arm.
The terrifying robbery unfolded at around 6.30pm on Thursday.
West Midlands Police are now hunting for the robber, who is described as a white man in his 20s and about 5ft 10ins.
Detective Inspector Greg Evans, from Force CID, said: "This is an appalling attack on an elderly man in his own home and we are appealing for anyone with information to come forward.
“We urge members of the public to be vigilant; being a victim of a burglary can be a terrifying experience, we want to reassure the public that these types of offences are extremely rare and we will do all can to arrest and prosecute those responsible.”
