The trio were questioned by police yesterday but were released while the investigation into his death continues.

Three boys, aged 14, 15 and 17, were arrested on Thursday morning.

It brings the number of people arrested in connection with the killing to four, but all have been released as detectives continue to investigate what happened.

Keelan was stabbed to death just yards from his home in the Merry Hill area of Wolverhampton on Tuesday, May 29, prompting a major police investigation.

Detective Inspector Warren Hines, who is leading the investigation for West Midlands Police, described the latest arrests as a 'significant development'.

He said his team were working on a 'number of leads' as they hunt to catch the schoolboy's killer.

He added: “The death of Keelan was unnecessary and tragic and we are working round the clock to understand what happened and get answers for Keelan’s family who are being kept updated with the latest developments."

Keelan, who would have turned 16 on July 1 and had just enrolled at a college in Birmingham, was the eighth person to be stabbed to death in the West Midlands this year.

His 40-year-old mother described him as 'an extremely loving person' who enjoyed music, DJing and dance.
