A murder investigation has been launched after a 15-year-old boy died following a stabbing in Wolverhampton.

Police were called to Langley Road, Merry Hill, just after 11pm following violence between a group of youths.

The teenager, named as Keelan Wilson, was taken to hospital with serious injuries but was confirmed dead a short time later.

Keelan Wilson would have turned 16 in July

His heartbroken grandfather George Ellitts this afternoon described him as 'an angel' who had just enrolled at college.

Part of Langley Road and surrounding routes, including Strathfield Walk, remain cordoned off today while investigations are carried out.

A blue covering has been pulled over what is believed to be a car parked on the pavement.

There is also a blue forensics tent which has been erected in an area nearby.

Further tents have been installed over another car and part of the roadway and pavement.

West Midlands Police officers are viewing CCTV in the area to trace those responsible for the knife attack.

Next of kin have been informed and are currently being supported by specialist officers.

Chief Superintendent Jayne Meir said the killing was 'absolutely unnecessary' and called on the community to come forward with any information they can to catch those responsible.
