Romanian man got into UK on false passport
A Romanian man living in the Black Country managed to get into the UK on a forged passport, a court heard.
Florin Grindei had a false Romanian passport but was still able to leave and re-enter the country, Wolverhampton Crown Court was told.
However, charges against Grindei, aged 42, of Armstrong Road, Stourbridge, were dropped as it was believed he did not know the passport was bogus.
Recorder Jason Widoger stressed it was important identification documents were genuine at the 'present time'.
Miss Fiona Cortese, prosecuting, told the court: "The passport was used to travel from and re-enter the country.
"Because he was able to use the passport successfully without any challenge it would be difficult for the Crown to show that he had knowledge or belief the documents were false."
Recorder Widoger formally found Grindei not guilty of two charges of possessing a false identification document and told him: "This is a slightly odd case. You were entitled to have the documents but they just happened to be forged ones.
"I am sure you understand, particularly at this present time, how important it is that identification documents are genuine and properly issued by the right authority."
