Jailed: Banned Asbo motorist was spotted behind wheel in Smethwick
A banned motorist drove into trouble when spotted at the wheel of a car in an area of Sandwell from which he was banned by an Anti Social Behaviour Order, a judged heard.
Klinton Sulag ignored an order to stop and accelerated away from the police patrol officers, who spotted him in Suffrage Street, Smethwick, on August 17.
Officers lost sight of the VW Golf driven by the 23-year-old, but the vehicle was seen the following day travelling along Oldbury Ringway, said Mrs Sati Ruck, prosecuting.
Sulag stopped outside the magistrates court before suddenly throwing the car into reverse as one of the police officers from the patrol car walked towards the stationary saloon.
The defendant made a U-turn, crossed the central reservation and drove off at speed in the opposite direction, continued Mr Ruck.
Sulag broke the 30mph limit, drove on the wrong side of the road, went the wrong way around a traffic island and undercut other motorists, she added Mrs Ruck.
He managed to escape from police a second time but was arrested after being seen walking along the side of the road soon afterwards.
The parked Golf was found 200 metres away.
Miss Jodie Smith, defending, conceded: "The driving fell well below the expected standard but thankfully no injury was caused."
Sulag, of Poplar Avenue, Tividale, admitted dangerous driving, driving whilst disqualified and breaching the terms of an Anti Social Behaviour Order.
He was jailed for 15 months and banned from driving for a further three years.
