Teen sold stolen goods worth £18,000
A teenager sold £8,000 of stolen items after they were taken from homes during burglaries.
Blade Burton, aged 19, was found with bikes and fishing equipment by police last year. Probation officer Sarah Ball told Cannock Magistrates' Court Burton had tried to sell the items on because it was 'an opportunity that he could not miss'.
She added Burton, of Carisbrooke Drive, Stafford, was unable to 'fully demonstrate' understanding the impact his crimes would have had on victims despite admitting five counts of handling stolen goods.
Burton was one of four men in court accused of handling the items last September and was handed a 10-month prison sentence suspended for two years, and to carry out 100 hours of unpaid work.
Police also arrested Lewis Muncaster, 19, of Sidney Avenue, Stafford, and found his bike was largely constructed with stolen parts.
He said he had bought his £175 bike second-hand from a man at a petrol station forecourt in Stone.
Ryan Phillips, 19, of Hinton Close, Stafford,
told magistrates he regularly bought parts online and at car boot sales but magistrates found both Muncaster and Phillips guilty of handling stolen goods.
Muncaster was ordered to £510 in costs, while
Phillips will do 150 hours unpaid work and pay £370.
Ashley Clowes, 20, of Princes Street, Stone, also admitted handling a stolen bike and was ordered to pay £340.
