Detectives investigating the murder of the 41-year-old arrested the teenager from his home in Old Hill, near Cradley Heath, at 9pm on Saturday night.

He continues to be questioned today as part of the inquiry.

West Midlands Police has been granted more time to question an 18-year-old man, from Cradley Heath, who was arrested on Friday night.

Window fitter Mr Johnson was found dead at an address in Cradley Road, Netherton, on Thursday morning.

A post mortem examination later showed Mr Johnson died from stab wounds.

Senior investigating officer, Detective Inspector Warren Hines from West Midlands Police's Homicide Team, said: "The investigation is progressing quickly and clearly this latest arrest is another significant development.

"However, I still really need to hear from anyone who may have seen anything suspicious in Cradley Road before Thursday morning – or anyone who has information about the killing or has overheard something that could be important.

"They can speak to us in confidence…and that snippet of information could be crucial in securing justice for Simon's family."

The developments come after Mr Johnson's wife paid tribute to her husband.

Mr Johnson had been a fitter at Black Country Glazing for 25 years, joining at the age of 17.

Gemma Howell, office manager at Black Country Glazing, said: "Black Country Glazing would like to pay tribute to one of our employees who has sadly passed away.

"Everyone here is devastated that we have lost one of our own who was not just an employee but a friend as well.

"All our staff and friends are paying tribute to our greatly missed friend and all our thoughts are with the family during this devastating time."
