A third teenager, an 18-year-old man, was arrested last night in connection with the death of father-of-two Simon Johnson.

Mr Johnson was found at a home in Cradley Road, Netherton, on Thursday morning.

Police confirmed today that the 41-year-old died as a result of stab injuries.

A post-mortem has been carried out.

Mr Johnson's wife has led tributes, saying: "Simon was loved by all of his family and was a very proud father of two girls.

"We are devastated by our loss and would like our privacy to be respected as we grieve."

Police at the scene on Thursday afternoon

Two men – both aged 18 – had been arrested on suspicion of murder but West Midlands Police confirmed they have since been released without charge.

Last night detectives arrested another 18-year-old local man in connection with the killing.

Detective Inspector Warren Hines, from West Midlands Police's Homicide Team, is leading the investigation and continues to appeal for information.

He said: "We are still piecing together the circumstances of this man's death and members of the local community could play a part in helping us to do that.

"If you saw anything – regardless of how insignificant you think it may be – and have not yet spoken to us, I would ask you to give me a call."

Information can be passed directly to DI Hines by calling 101 or, to speak anonymously, call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
