Two charged over double Birmingham shooting
A Dudley man has been charged with attempted murder and another man charged with murder over a double shooting in Birmingham last year.
Tafarwa Beckford, from Duchess Road in Ladywood, and Rio Sanchez-Williams were arrested yesterday in relation to the gunfire in Soho Hill on October 30 which left one man dead and another fighting for his life.
Sanchez-Williams, 27, from Orchard Street was charged with the attempted murder of Marvin Duffus, 29, who remains critically ill in hospital nearly five months on from the shooting.
Beckford has been charged with the murder of Derek Junior Myers, aged 25 and from Handsworth.
Detective Superintendent Mark Payne is leading the investigation and appealed for anyone with information to come forward.
He said: "Clearly this is a significant development in the case but our investigation continues…we are determined to secure justice for the victims and their families.
"Several people remain on police bail and my team of detectives continues to sift through information to identify those who were involved in this incident.
"I'd still appeal to anyone with information about the shootings, and who has not yet spoken to police, to please get in touch."
Sanchez Williams appeared at Birmingham Magistrates Court today and was remanded in custody.
Beckford will appear before magistrates tomorrow.
Anyone with information should call police on 101 or contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
