Jake Norton, 19, ignored warnings and arrests from police and a restraining order to meet and have sex with the girl, Wolverhampton Crown Court heard.

Prosecutor Peter Cooper told Wolverhampton Crown Court that the girl, who has known Norton for about three years, was staying in a West Bromwich care home in the week and at her mother's at the weekends when the offences were taking place.

He said: "They had been in a relationship for about a year, and she went missing on a number of occasions."

Norton, whose address was given as HMP Brinsford, pleaded guilty to four counts of sexual activity with a child under 16 between June 1 last year and 21 February this year.

Judge Nicholas Webb told Norton: "You ignored orders not to contact her. You met up with her and had sex with her on a number of occasions.

"I accept that she may have been a mature 14-year-old and you an immature 18-year-old but you should have known better."

He was given an 18-month jail sentence, suspended for two years, and ordered to carry out 100 hours of unpaid work.

He was also given rehabilitation activity requirement of 30 days.
