Drugs importer may be hiding in Smethwick
This drugs importer was on the run today and believed to be in Smethwick after failing to return to an open prison.
Jak Marku, aged 25, who was serving a nine year, six month sentence for importing cocaine, was given home leave from Hollesley Bay in Suffolk.
He was scheduled to go to an address in Southall in Middlesex on February 28, and was due to return to the prison by 3.30pm on March 4.
But he failed to show up and was reported missing to police. Members of the public are urged not to approach him, but to contact police.
A West Midlands Police spokesman said: "Since original appeals to trace him in March, police have been carrying out numerous enquiries to locate him, with West Midlands officers making visits to his contacts in the Birmingham area.
"It's now thought he is likely to be in the Smethwick area and police are asking anyone with information about his whereabouts to come forward."
Marku is around 5ft 10ins tall, of medium build, with dark hair and brown eyes, also has connections to north-west London.
Police are asking anyone who may have seen him or anyone with information about where he is now to contact police on 101..
