Caught on camera: Sleeping tablets robber fought off with plastic box
This is the moment a knifeman wearing tights on his head tried to steal sleeping tablets and cash - before a pharmacist fought him off using just a plastic box.
The pharmacist at Beacon View Chemist chased the raider from the store, and police today revealed they were linking the attempted robbery with another at a different chemist.
The images above were captured just before 10am on February 15 at Beacon View, on Beacon View Road,
He was a heavily built white man, 6 ft 2 ins tall and aged between 20 and 30. He was wearing a distinctive top with a red pattern across the hood.
Detectives say they are linking it to a raid at PJ Ingram Pharmacy in West Bromwich High Street on January 25 shortly after 4.30pm, where a man fitting the same description demanded the same brand of sleeping tablets.
Dc Thomas Cunningham-Smith, from Force CID, said: "We are linking these two incidents and we would like to hear from anyone who recognises the man in the CCTV or who has any information which will lead us to identify him."
Anyone with information should call DC Cunningham-Smith on 101 or via Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
