Three arrested over attack on Aston Villa fans

Three men have been arrested after violence erupted at Aston Villa's match against Swansea City that left fans lying 'lifeless' on the street.

Officers were called to the Aston Hotel near to the Villa ground shortly before the final whistle blew on Saturday to reports of a fight breaking out between fans.

West Midlands Police confirmed that three men from Wales, aged 17, 21 and 23 were arrested on suspicion of violent disorder following the fight outside the hotel in Whitton Road. All three men have been interviewed by police and bailed.

Soon after the match Villa fans took to social media to show their disgust for the attack.

Mother Michelle Webb posted on Facebook fan page, Aston Villa News and Scores. She said: "My kids are really, really upset by what they witnessed this afternoon, that's not right."

"To see a lifeless man on the floor being stamped on is a vision my husband and 15-year-old daughter will struggle to erase from their memory."

Shaney Phillips added: "I'm a Villa fan and if they have done that they should be banned for life.

"I'm a family lady with two kids it could have been any one of us."
