Wolverhampton dog owner neglected pets
A pet owner failed to find out why her dog was losing weight before the animal eventually died of malnourishment, a court heard.
Patricia Brown admitted two charges related to the poor care of a tan female dog called Sugar, which was found dead by RSPCA officers in November.
Brown, aged 33, from Wolverhampton, also pleaded guilty to two further charges relating to failing to provide a proper diet for another female dog called Shia.
Mr Roger Price, prosecuting on behalf of the RSPCA, told Wolverhampton Magistrates Court yesterday: "Sugar was found to be dead when officers visited the premises in November. That was through malnutrition. It was exposed to the elements in an outdoor cage.
It had been raining in that period. The other dog was Shia and it scored two out of nine on a body condition score."
Brown, of Myatt Avenue, in Parkfields, admitted causing unnecessary suffering to a protected animal by failing to investigate Sugar's weight loss and keeping a clean environment.
Brown also admitted failing to prevent unnecessary suffering to Shia between November 8 and 22 last year.
The case was adjourned for the preparation of a pre-sentence report. Brown will be sentenced at the same court on October 1. She was granted unconditional bail until then.
