Man, 43, in court over West Bromwich lake murder
A man has appeared in crown court after being charged with the murder of a man whose body was found floating in a lake in West Bromwich.
Jagdev Singh Rai, aged 43, of Salisbury Road, West Bromwich, who is also known as Jamie Rai, appeared before Wolverhampton Crown Court yesterday.
He has been charged with the murder of Jasbir Singh Bains, 41.
Rai is also charged with three counts of fraud and faces charges of obtaining a credit card in a false name from Nationwide between July 1, 2012 and September 30 2012, falsely obtaining a mortgage from the Alliance and Leicester to the value of £56,703 on July 15, 2010 and using a false name to gain a Toshiba TV worth £180 from mail order company Premier Man on September 5, 2012.
Rai spoke only to confirm his name at the hearing.
He is now expected to enter pleas to the charges on October 7, and a provisional trial date in the case of any not guilty pleas has been set for January 6 next year.
