Crime in West Bromwich falls 21pc in one year
Crime in a town centre has fallen by more than 20 per cent over the past year, with 435 fewer people becoming victims.
New figures show that recorded crime in West Bromwich fell by 21.8 per cent in 2012-13 from the previous year.
And the drop in crime has been hailed as a 'big result' by those involved in reduction initiatives at the police and Sandwell Council.
West Bromwich-based Insp Akeel Najib said: "This is a fantastic reduction in crime and one we are really proud of.
"My officers have worked hard with partners, the business community and local residents to achieve these really significant reductions.
"The large fall in crime is really making a big difference to the people of West Bromwich and with all the exciting changes that the town is going through at the moment is a real achievement."
