Man held over West Bromwich park lake body
A murder suspect was today being quizzed on the killing of a man found with his throat cut in a West Bromwich park's boating lake.
Jasbir Singh Bains, aged 41, was discovered in the water in Dartmouth Park, close to Sandwell Valley, in November last year.
At 7.45am today, police arrested a man, 44, at an address in Salisbury Road, West Bromwich, in connection with the death .
He was at a police station for questioning. The body of Mr Bains, of no fixed address, was found in Dartmouth Park lake by a park ranger early on November 28 after he saw blood on a path.
When police pulled him out of the water they found a cut to the neck and launched a murder investigation.
At a December inquest Det Chf Inspr Wayne Jones said Mr Bains stayed at a West Bromwich hotel the night before .
Det Insp Warren Hines said today that the inquiry proved challenging due to the remote scene and lack of obvious motive.
They continued to make enquiries and addresses in the West Bromwich area would be searched. Anyone with information should contact Force CID at Harborne police station on 101, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
