Gas leak in Tipton metal theft

Metal thieves sparked a gas leak at a block of flats in Tipton today.

Fire crews were called to Central Drive at 6.30am, after residents started to smell gas.

Thieves had taken sections of copper pipes from the outside of four flats. Crews isolated the gas supply, and gas engineers were called.
