Police were called to Hartland Road, at 10.20pm yesterday after reports of a shooting.

Gunshots damaged a nearby car and the exterior of the house, however the occupants of the property were uninjured.

The house and a section of Hartland Road remained cordoned off today while police forensic teams looked for evidence. A police car was still outside the house this morning.

Residents today spoke of their shock at the shooting.

One mother-of-two, who has lived on the road for three years and did not want to be named, said: "I heard about six gunshots at about 10.30pm, they were one after the other. I didn't look out of the window, I was too scared, particularly as I have two young children and then I saw the police turn up so I just stayed indoors."

Stanley Adams, aged 78, who has lived on the road for 60 years, said: "My wife heard it all, she said there were two bangs and she looked out and there was somebody trying to get in a car on the drive. They couldn't get in at first, but then they got in and went speeding down the road."
