Fire attack raiders caught on camera
Burglars caused thousands of pounds worth of damage to a family-run firm in Willenhall after sparking a blaze during a break-in.
Only limited production has been able to take place at J Nixon and Co, in Waterglade Lane, since the arson attack. Three men broke into the factory on September 7 but when they realised they were being filmed on security cameras, they tried to destroy them and set the video recording unit on fire. The blaze spread causing serious damage to the building.
Bosses at the family-run engineering and tool-making firm said it would be another month before full production was resumed but vowed they will bounce back.
Owner Joe Nixon, aged 83, who runs the firm with son Peter, said: "What they actually stole was quite insignificant but the damage they caused has been very significant.
"A lot of firms depend on us for the things we make.
"We have had to defer some of the work as we can only do limited production at the moment as not all of the machines are working. But we have some brilliant customers who have really supported us. We will be back."
Police have managed to salvage some of the video evidence from the factory and today released these images.
They want anyone with information to get in touch.
Dc Roger Smith, of Walsall CID, said: "The fire has had a devastating effect on this family run business that has been trading since 1967. It will be several months before production will be fully restored, during which time the company may lose orders."
Anyone with information should call Walsall CID on 101.
