Former Walsall FC star Troy Deeney has been jailed for 10 months after kicking an injured man in the head during a brawl outside a nightclub.
The 23-year-old was among a gang of men who attacked up to four students near Bliss Nightclub in Birmingham in February.
The striker, who now plays for Championship side Watford, was captured on CCTV kicking a student who was lying face down on the ground and is said to have thrown a punch at another.
Deeney, who left the Saddlers for a fee rising up to £500,000 two summers ago, admitted a charge of affray and was jailed at Birmingham Crown Court yesterday.
During the fracas one of the victims suffered a broken jaw. The court was told Deeney, of Keeper's Gate, Chelmsely Wood, was out celebrating a friend's birthday when they became involved in the savage Broad Street attack at 2.20am.
His three co-accused, including younger brother Ellis, also admitted affray.
Oliver Brennan, aged 20, of Hazel Croft, Chelmsley Wood, was sentenced to eight months youth custody.
Marc Williams, 26, of Stonebridge Crescent, Kingshurst, was handed an eight-month suspended sentence and Ellis Deeney, 21, of Poplar Avenue, Chelmsely Wood, was given an eight-month prison term suspended by 18 months.
