Council rent arrears in Dudley totals £2.3 million
Rent arrears fall in Dudley compared to a year ago
More than £2.3 million is owed in unpaid rent on council homes in Dudley according to new figures.
The figures, which will be presented to Dudley Council’s audit committee next week, show that current tenants owed a total of £1.85 million at the end of March this year, with a further £470,000 still owing from former tenants.
But the figures do show an improvement on recent years.
At the end of March 2024, the figure stood at almost £2.8 million, and the year before it was more than £3 million.
The report also showed a slight improvement in the amounts of council-tax and business-rate debt the authority had to write off.
Over the 12 months up until March this year, Dudley Council wrote off £520,000 in unpaid council tax, compared to £548,000 the previous year.
The amount of business rates written off fell from £600 million in 2024/25 to £548,000 in 2025/26.
