Secret Angels has put out the call for more donations as it gears up to providing users of its food bank with an Easter treat.

For the 2026 Easter Egg Appeal the Wolverhampton charity is working with local businesses, schools, community groups and residents to help make Easter special for disadvantaged children and vulnerable individuals across the city.

Last year the charity set a target of 300 Easter eggs and ended up collecting 614, but Secret Angels director Alvina Ali said that numbers had been lower than normal this time around, prompting an extension of the deadline for donations.

She said: "For the last few years that we've been running the appeal, we've found it has been really successful, but the issue this year has been that with things like wars, cost of living affordability, we've not had as many donations as normal.

"We've had businesses come forward in the past, and give us huge amounts of eggs, but this time around it's been very quiet, with only Asian Music Radio donating about 40 eggs and another private donation of around 50.

"I just thought it wasn't good enough, so we've kept the appeal going for this year to get more donations in."

Ms Ali said the appeal was special because of seeing the smiles on the faces of both youngsters and adults who receive an egg, and it was a joy to be able to help everyone from elderly people to homeless people.

She said the appeal would go on as long as it could before Easter and said that while it was a struggle at the moment, she was hopeful to see more donations.

She said: "There's always scope to keep extending the deadline and while we want to be able to advertise what we've got going out, we are still pushing for businesses and donations.

"We have more than 500 people on our book - although we won't get that many come in, maybe around 80 or 90 - but we also get other companies asking us for donations, so we want to be able to give them our surplus.

"I know that things are tough at the moment and there is a lot going on in the world, but if you have the ability to donate something, it will make a real difference to someone's life."
