Residents invited to donate items at Kingswinford community reuse and recycling event
Residents in Kingswinford are being invited to donate pre-loved and used items to help people in need.
Dudley Council is asking residents to gift items that are too good to throw away to its community sharing scheme, with the local authority holding one of its ‘Too Good to Throw Away’ events on Monday, January 12 at Kingswinford Methodist Church on Stream Road.
People will be able to donate unwanted household items that are in good working order between 10am and 1pm.
Items accepted include curtains, bedding, cushions, kitchenware, small electricals, clothes, children’s winter coats, food and unused toiletries.
Anything collected will be shared between charitable organisations in the borough, including Provision House, which repurposes them for community use.
Councillor Andrea Goddard, cabinet member responsible for the events, said: “January is a great time to have a clear out of homes, which can be cluttered from Christmas, so this is the perfect chance to think about passing on items to be repurposed.
“Our events give people the chance to reduce impact on the environment while helping others in the local community and we are very excited to be continuing with them into 2026.”
The council also said that residents are politely reminded that the scheme is not requesting furniture, soft furniture or white goods.
People can find out more, and see a full list of wanted items online.
