Chippie raided in broad daylight

Knife-wielding thieves stole two stone of prize cod at a fish and chip shop.
They were trying to steal four stone of fish, worth £160, from the award-winning Newbridge Fryer, Newbridge, Wolverhampton, 11.15am yesterday and had already loaded one box into a red Vauxhall Corsa.
Shift manager Pula Mohammed, aged 26, chased them, managing to break off the wing mirror, as the car sped back along Tettenhall Road in the direction of Wolverhampton.
Shop owner Andrew Calleja, 36, said: "Pula is a hero as far as I'm concerned. He could have easily just closed the door and called the police but he gave chase – mind you, he is from Iraq so is made of very stern stuff.
"I know times are hard at the minute, what with the credit crunch and everything, but what kind of world are we living in when people are resorting to stealing fish to make a quick buck? They could have come in the shop and demanded money but they have obviously had their eyes on our deliveries for some time.
