Start-up support launches in Stafford
An award-winning Stafford business is teaming up with the University of Wolverhampton in Stafford to provide a free evening of entrepreneurial advice to business-minded people across Staffordshire and the wider Midlands.
Rocketeer Academy, formerly Rocketeer Enterprise, will host an evening to support Staffordshire start-ups on Monday, February 3, at The Gatehouse Theatre, Eastgate Street, Stafford. Tickets are available via Rocketeer Academy on Eventbrite.
The evening event will run from 5.30pm to 8pm and will featuretalks from business experts, investors and entrepreneurs that are part of Rocketeer Academy’s network.
Speakers include the founder of Rocketeer Academy, Richard Wood; director of the Angel Investment Network, Xavier Ballester and executive chairman of Google Education partner C-Learning, Jamie Smith. Other speakers include a tech entrepreneur with a background in Activision and Mozilla Firefox, and a content creator for Chelsea FC that is forming a social enterprise.
"The number of start-ups in the UK has been growing year on year, and so too has the number of people interested in becoming their own bosses or following their passion," explained Mr Wood.
"Naturally, founding a business is easier said than done. It’s very complicated and overwhelming. And that’s just trying to figure out what you need to know, let alone learning it.
"With this evening, we want to make more people throughout Staffordshire realise how accessible entrepreneurism can be. Our experts will discuss why skills in enterprise are invaluable, what those skills are and how those skillsets can be shared more widely throughout the region.”
