Emms Gilmore Liberson will host a free seminar at Birmingham’s Hotel du Vin on Thursday, April 12 with enforcement business Burlington Group.

EGL’s event will inform landlords and owner-occupiers on how to tackle trespassing on their premises, as well as covering related issues involving squatters, fly-tippers and protesters.

Speakers include barrister Marc Glover, of Tanfield Chambers, Jonathan Chatfield, high court enforcement officer at Burlington Group, and Charlotte Collins, associate director at EGL.

EGL’s Property Litigation team works with building owners across England and Wales. Last year it successfully removed squatters from a client’s vacant office building in less than three working days, deploying a High Court procedure to accelerate the process.

Martyn Liberson, partner at EGL, said: “Trespassing is a huge issue in the UK, but not everyone is aware of what to do or who to ask should it happen to them.

“The members of our property litigation team are regularly instructed on a wide range of problems relating to land and commercial premises, often caused by trespassers, squatters, fly tippers and protestors.

“In the past 12 months the team has successfully acted for a number of property owners in dealing with these problems.

“We tire of hearing of cases where owners complain about the length of time it takes to secure possession, whilst their property is being occupied by trespassers, and even damaged, for weeks on end. It does not have to be that way.

“We want to reach out to other property owners so that they are better equipped in how to avoid problems and can have a robust recovery plan in place to deal with them should they arise.”

EGL’s trespassers and squatters seminar takes place at he hotel in Church Street from 6pm to 8pm.

The event is free but numbers are limited. Reserve a place by contacting EGL on 0121 314 0000 or e-mailing events@egl-law.com
