College to host apprenticeships briefing
Employers can find out how their business can benefit from apprenticeships at a breakfast briefing at City of Wolverhampton College.
The business breakfast at the college’s Metro One campus on Friday, November 24, is for employers interested in taking on a new apprentice or improving the skills of existing staff with apprenticeship training.
Companies can get information on the national apprenticeship scheme as well as the range of training delivered by the college and the support provided to recruit suitable applicants.
Those attending will also be able to find out about how to get the most out of a new Government scheme to enable them to fund more apprentices – from how small businesses can save money on training costs to how larger employers can make the most of their contributions to the new apprenticeship levy.
Guests will tuck in to hot breakfast rolls and freshly-baked pastries made and served by students studying for bakery and hospitality qualifications, and employers who already use the college for their apprenticeship training will be on hand to talk about the benefits of the scheme.
Graham Taylor, employer responsive and contracts manager, said: “Apprenticeships are an opportunity for businesses to improve productivity by employing staff who combine working for the organisation with studying for relevant industry recognised qualifications at college and in the workplace.
“The breakfast event will give new employers the opportunity to find out more about the benefits of the scheme and how the college is working with local companies to improve skills across the city and the wider Black Country.”
