Chamber campaign to launch at Hawthorns
The Black Country Chamber of Commerce is launching its new transport and infrastructure campaign on Friday, July 14.
The free launch event is at West Bromwich Albion's Hawthorns ground in Birmingham Road from 7.30am to 9am.
The chamber will work with businesses to lobby for investment in improving transport and the region's infrastructure.
Speakers will include chamber chief executive Corin Crane, chairman of the West Midlands Growth Company Paul Kehoe, managing director of Transport for West Midlands Laura Shoaf and chief executive of Midlands Expressway Andy Pearson.
There will also be a panel discussion.
Mr Crane said: "We are launching our new transport campaign as part of Black Country Day on 14th July, and a key component of this campaign is the need for increased infrastructure funding for our major and local road networks. Congestion is a huge issue for local businesses.
"historically, the Black Country and the Midlands have received nowhere near enough national funding for infrastructure to help our businesses grow at the speed they are capable of."
