Wolverhampton’s Santa Spruce Up to add a sparkle to the city centre for Christmas
A 'Santa Spruce Up' is set to take place in Wolverhampton city centre on Thursday December 11.
After receiving overwhelming support in the summer and autumn 'Spruce Ups' with help from hundreds of volunteers, Enjoy Wolverhampton Business Improvement District (BID) is inviting residents and traders to join the festive 'Santa Spruce Up' to give the city an extra sparkle and shine in the lead up to Christmas.

The third of this year’s community litter picks - the 'Santa Spruce Up' is an initiative between Enjoy Wolverhampton BID, Wolverhampton University, Wolverhampton Council, Barclays and the Wolves Foundation - and the focus will be on the main city centre streets and areas connecting City Campus and Springfield Campus.
Cherry Shine, managing director of Enjoy Wolverhampton BID, said: “We’ve previously coordinated spruce ups and they’re a great way for our city’s organisations to work together, bringing a great sense of pride to the city centre. We’ve been overjoyed with the number of volunteers from across a wide range of city centre businesses and organisations, all taking part in giving the city centre an extra spruce up.
"Our Santa Spruce is just one way we are all working together to enhance the city centre for all to enjoy."
Sara Aslett, business development manager at Wolverhampton University, added: “The Spruce Ups have proven to be a really effective way for both University staff and students to feel part of the wider community, making connections and having a positive impact on their home or adoptive home.”
Wolverhampton Council is supporting the event by providing equipment and guidance, while staff from Barclays have been centrally involved in all of the city centre spruce ups.
Kate Billingham, Barclays’ local specialist for Wolverhampton, said “Our Barclays Wolverhampton branch have enjoyed being part of the city centre Spruce Ups. They are great ways for the team to connect with the community and make a positive impact in our shared environment.”
Sarah-Louise Evans, of the Wolves Foundation, added: “It has been such a pleasure for the Foundation and our partners (DWP, Black Rook Media and the Armed Forces) to be part of this excellent venture. The pride we have in our city has been demonstrated by paving the way for a better and sustainable future”
The Wolverhampton City Centre Santa Spruce Up on Thursday December 11 will take place between 10am and noon.
