'It's a strong darts region': Organisers and businesses praise Grand Slam of Darts for showcasing Wolverhampton around the world
The annual week of darts action in Wolverhampton has been celebrated by organisers and business owners as a showcase for the city and an event which gives the local economy a significant boost.
The 2025 edition of the Grand Slam of Darts brought thousands of darts fans to WV Active Aldersley across nine days of competition featuring some of the best darts players in the world, with Luke Littler triumphant on finals night.
The fans came equipped for fun across the different sessions of play, with many dressing up in fancy dress ranging from Arabian sheiks to Minions, and the atmosphere inside the arena was loud, vibrant and fun on the tables and in the stands.
Figures by the Professional Darts Corporation (PDC) show the whole city benefits from the event as fans from across the country travel to watch the Grand Slam, with the economic benefit of the event adding up to around £3.4 million and with 1,000 extra tickets sold in 2025.

PDC chief executive Matt Porter said the event had grown since Wolverhampton was picked as the host city in 2007 and said the city was synonymous with the Grand Slam in the same way that the World Matchplay was with Blackpool.
He also said that the worldwide TV exposure was a real benefit for the city, as well as the large crowds who went to the event and added to the local economy.
He said: "The local crowd are really good and it's a strong darts region, but people are coming from further afield now as well, which is great, and from a TV perspective, there's coverage all around the world, so it showcase Wolverhampton.
