The event, held in the new Masters Suite at The Belfry in Sutton Coldfield on September 19, was the brainchild of four leading independent, family-run firms – Tippers, EH Smith Builders Merchants, Friel Construction and M Lambe Construction – who joined forces to celebrate the strength of Midlands independents while supporting local causes.

Joe Tipper, speaking on behalf of the organising companies, said: “This event was about more than celebrating construction – it was about showing what’s possible when independent businesses stand shoulder to shoulder.

“To raise £167,000 in our first year is a testament to the generosity of our industry and the strength of our community.”

The money raised was in aid of Acorns Children’s Hospice, St Giles Hospice, Tabor Living and the Christy Lambe Foundation, each recognised for their vital work in communities across the region, with the funds being spilt equally between the organisations.

Headline sponsors FP McCann, Keystone, Ibstock and Holcim were joined by supporting sponsors Wrekin, Brett Martin, BS Eaton, Hitachi, British Gypsum, Ideal Standard, MGF, Bristan and JCB, whose backing helped turn the idea into a standout success.
