'This is another business taken down by rising costs,' Midlands firm says as it handles asset sale in the liquidation of well-known butchers
Midlands-based Kumar and Company has been instructed to handle the sale of assets in the liquidation of a well-known butchers based in Hagley, Worcestershire.
The Butcheress, known for its pink delivery vans, was closed down by owner Rachel Evans in September, “unable to continue” due to increasing costs.
Tim Heaselgrave, of the Timothy James Partnership, has been appointed liquidator to the company, and he has appointed Walsall chartered surveyors, valuers and auctioneers Kumar and Company to sell the assets.

Kumar and Company have launched an online auction sale which continues until Thursday October 23 which includes a range of butchery equipment, from knives, vacuum sealers and Avery scales to butchers blocks and Transit Connect fridge van.
The Butcheress, which was based in Worcester Road, Hagley, near Stourbridge, was a wholesale supplier, which had won awards for its sausages and home-cured bacon burgers since it launched in 2017.
Owner Rachel Edmonds had more than two decades’ experience in the wholesale butchery industry and came from a farming background.

Rajiv Kumar, managing director of Kumar and Company, said: “This is another business taken down by rising costs such as National Insurance, energy and the price of meat, alongside a fall in customer spending in a tough economy. This comes despite a high profile the owner had created for her business, with its bright pink vans and logos.
“We are already seeing considerable interest from online bidders for the 92 lots within the auction, which includes commercial kitchen and butchery equipment, a pick-up truck and a pair of vans.”

Kumar and Company offers specialist advice for the valuation of complex machinery and business assets. Incorporated in 2009, the firm of chartered surveyors acts for insolvency practitioners, local authorities and private businesses across the UK.
As well as asset and business auctions, Kumar and Company also offers valuation reports, pre-lending advice, financial reporting, asset disposal and recovery, and has a specialist audio visual sector knowledge and experience.
