Brierley Hill music venue takes step towards sustainability with innovative glass waste solution
A Black Country music and comedy venue has taken an innovative step towards reducing its carbon footprint with the installation of a new compact glass bottle crushing machine.
Red By Night, located at the Waterfront in Brierley Hill, has installed a new machine called the Baby Jaws - a compact, low noise bottle crusher which is designed to make glass waste management simpler, cleaner and more sustainable for businesses of all sizes.

Capable of reducing glass waste volume by up to 80 per cent, the machine - supplied by Electro UK - features a single-bottle aperture feed for straightforward use and fits neatly under any standard bar counter.
Its introduction is expected to improve staff efficiency by reducing the number of trips to external bottle bins, while also lowering waste collection costs.
Before installing the Baby Jaws, the Red By Night team often struggled with overflowing glass bins during busy shifts — sometimes having to empty a 100L bin three to four times per shift, tying up two staff members each time.

Not only has the new machine supported daily operations, but it has also reduced the frequency of glass collections, saving time, money and valuable back-of-house space.

Ashley Walton, of Electro UK, said: “We’re proud to support hospitality venues like Red By Night in their journey towards sustainability. By providing smart waste management solutions, we’re helping businesses across the UK reduce their carbon footprint and contribute to a greener future.”
He said it's hoped that more businesses across the West Midlands will see the benefits of the machine which has already proved popular with large London hospitality companies.
Electro UK, based in Birmingham, has been working with businesses and councils nationwide, delivering innovative waste management solutions that support sustainability goals while also offering practical, cost-saving benefits.
In addition to glass reduction technology, the business also supplies general waste compactors, Balers for recycling cardboard and plastic waste and innovative Brite Bins - solar-powered compacting rubbish bins that compress waste by up to 90 per cent so more waste can fit in to each unit before it needs emptying, reducing collection visits.
