'Protecting your privacy is extremely important to us' - High street jeweller Pandora warns customers of cyber attack
High street jeweller Pandora has written to its customers to warn of a cyber attack after information was stolen.
The Danish company is the latest retailer to be struck in an ongoing wave of incidents and said the issue related to a third party.
In a letter to customers Pandora stated: "We are writing to inform you that Pandora has experienced a cyber security attack, where some customer information was accessed through a third-party platform that we use. We want to reassure you that the attack has been stopped, and as a result we have further strengthened our security measures. Only very common types of data were copied by the attacker – specifically name, birthdate, and email address.
"We’d like to stress that no passwords, credit card details or similar confidential data were involved in this incident. We have carried out extensive checks and to date we cannot see any evidence that this data has been shared or published.

However, as a precautionary measure, we recommend that you pay extra attention to unusual emails and online activities prompting for your data as this could be phishing attempts from third parties pretending to be associated with Pandora.
"Therefore, we recommend that you do not click on links or download attachments from unknown sources. Protecting your privacy is extremely important to us. While incidents like these have unfortunately become more common in recent years, especially among global companies, we take this matter very seriously. We deeply regret any inconvenience this may cause you. If you have any questions regarding the incident, please visit this page for help."
Similar incidents were recently reported by include retailer Marks & Spencer,Ticketmaster and several designer brands including Adidas and Dior.
Pandora has branches across the region including Wolverhampton's Wulfrun Centre; Park Street in Walsall; New Square in West Bromwich; Merry Hill near Dudley; Telford Centre; Shrewsbury and Bullring, Birmingham.
The comany has been appraoched for comment.
